The words wouldn’t flow this week.
But sometimes it’s not easy, right? You can’t just quit! So I furrowed my brow and tried harder. I growled at my computer so loudly that I scared the dog. I tried all my usual tricks to get me into the zone, but none of them worked. Still, I didn’t get up from my desk, because I was disciplined. I was determined.
I was forcing it.
I called a creative friend, who reminded me that creativity cannot be coaxed out of hiding with anger and frustration.
She said: Loosen your grip. Go do something fun. Come back to the material with fresh eyes and a happy heart.
So I took Míša for a super long walk and then spent the rest of the day on the couch with some of my favourite books. Sorrow and Bliss is one of them.
